Rare Specials: the Ones That Seldom Come Around

Some specials turn up every few weeks. Others come around once or twice a year. The Rare tab puts those in one list, from all three supermarkets, with the rarest first.

  • Each rare special says why it is rare, for example “Half-price only once in 52 weeks”.
  • Rarity is based on how often the product has been on special over the past year.
  • ALDI products that are rarely stocked are included too.
  • A rare half-price on something you buy anyway is the time to stock up.

What You Can Do With Specials

Browse each store

Switch between Woolworths, Coles and ALDI. Narrow the list by Half Price, by department or by category, or search for a product by name.

See your own specials first

WiseList points out specials that are already on your grocery list, in your meal plan, in your fridge or pantry, on your Watch List or on a recent receipt.

Check the other supermarkets

Where WiseList can confirm the same product in the same size, the special shows what another store charges for it.

Add to your list

Tap the plus button to add one special, or pick several and add them together.

Make meals from the specials

Pick the food specials you like and send them to Meal Plan to build meals around them.

Watch a price

Add a product to your Watch List straight from its special.

Straight About What Counts as a Special

  • A “Was” price and a saving are shown only when the supermarket publishes one for a single item.
  • A multi-buy offer, such as “any 2 for $5”, shows the offer. WiseList does not show a saving on one item, because buying one costs the regular price.
  • ALDI does not publish was-prices, so its specials are grouped by offer, such as Super Savers and Special Buys.
  • Fruit and vegetables at their normal price are marked “This week’s price, not a discount”.

When the Specials Change

New specials arrive each Wednesday. ALDI Special Buys go on sale on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Specials differ from state to state, so WiseList uses the postcode on your profile to show yours.

Free to Use

Specials is free for everyone. Free accounts can watch 5 products; WiseList+ makes the Watch List unlimited.
