Frequently asked questions

How do I scan a receipt?

In the WiseList app, tap My Lists in the bottom navigation bar, then Scan Receipt under Kitchen. Take a photo of the receipt, check the items on the next screen, then tap Save.

Which stores are supported?

Coles, Woolworths and ALDI receipts. Screenshots of a Coles or Woolworths online order or app order also work.

How should I take the photo?

Lay the receipt flat in good light and get the full width in frame. You do not need to include the store header or the payment details at the bottom, but the item lines and the total help.

My receipt is very long. Can I scan it?

Yes. Add up to three photos of the same receipt, one section at a time, and WiseList reads them as one shop. If your photo only caught part of the receipt, the items that were cut off will be missing, so check the item count before you save.

How long does it take?

Usually about ten seconds for a normal shop. Very long receipts take longer. If it tells you it took too long, simply try again.

What if an item is wrong or missing?

On the check screen you can change any line, link it to a different product, or remove it. Anything that needs a second look is flagged, and one tap takes you to it. Your corrections are saved with the receipt.

Where do the items go?

Straight into My Fridge or My Pantry, sorted by what they are: dairy, meat and fresh produce to the fridge, dry goods and household items to the pantry. You can move anything afterwards. This happens for every user, free or WiseList+.

Do I need WiseList+?

No. Everyone gets 2 receipt scans a month. WiseList+ removes the limit so you can scan every shop.

Why does my total show a “≈” sign?

It means the total was not in the photo, which is common with app screenshots, so WiseList added up the lines for you. The ≈ reminds you it is calculated, not read off the receipt.

What happens if I scan the same receipt twice?

WiseList spots a receipt it has already seen from the same store, date and total and tells you. If you save it anyway, the shop is recorded again but your fridge and pantry are not filled twice.

Can I delete a receipt?

Yes, from your receipt history. Deleting a receipt also removes the items it added to your fridge and pantry, so your shelves stay accurate.

Is my card number stored?

No. Card numbers, phone numbers and similar details are removed before the receipt is saved.
